John began his artistic career as an oil painter in his home state of Oregon and has studied with many internationally known artists:  Michael Aviano of the American Academy of Fine Arts in NY, James McFarlane, Kass Morin Freeman, Nancy Barch, Judy Wagner and Frank Webb.

  John's paintings often depict intense memories of big skies, the mountains, valleys and colors of the west.  Frequent travels from his home in Maine to the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountain states are a great source of inspiration.

  In addition to his painting career, John's passion is to preserve the environment and the beauty of the unspoiled landscape.  He has won numerous awards for road and triathlon racing.
